Our Strategic Plan 2009 - 2012

This strategic plan outlines the objectives of the English Schools Foundation over the next three years, from the start of the 2009-10 school year until the end of 2011-12. The progress we make against the objectives of the plan will be detailed in our annual report – the two documents should be seen as complementary.

This is the first strategic plan since our new governance structure was put into place and the Board of Governors was convened.

Three years is an appropriate time frame for a strategic plan, but does not allow us to fully articulate our vision for ESF further into the future. For this reason, we have added a section that takes a view which is longer term, though also necessarily more speculative.

At the same time, we should not forget the origins of ESF and how much progress has been made since we embarked on a programme of reform under our Chairman, Prof. Felice Lieh Mak. For this reason, we have begun with a retrospective section. The strategic plan itself is thus book-ended by a look back at the past and by our aspirations for what ESF might become in ten years. We trust this context will serve to justify the priorities we have made within the strategic plan itself.
